Scientific outputs, as research outcomes, play a fundamental role in the expansion of knowledge, enhancement of scientific standards, and promotion of research culture in any scientific community. These outputs reflect the scientific capabilities, research capacities, and competence of universities and research institutions in producing knowledge. This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing and evaluating the scientific outputs of Tarbiat Modares University and visualizing them through scientific maps. Such an analysis provides a clearer perspective on the university's role and position in scientific production and advancing the frontiers of knowledge at both national and international levels.
The study employed a scientometric approach and analyzed data derived from scientific articles, books, theses, dissertations, articles published in national journals, and research projects of Tarbiat Modares University between 1995 and 2024. A total of 43,651 scientific titles were collected and analyzed during this period. The majority of these outputs were published in Persian and English, although a notable number were available in other languages, including Arabic, Spanish, French, and others, highlighting the diversity and scope of the university’s academic production.
Data collection was carried out using reliable scientometric tools, citation databases, and reports from the university's research systems. The data were analyzed using software such as Excel and VOSviewer to generate scientific maps associated with these outputs. The findings revealed that the scientific outputs of Tarbiat Modares University exhibited a steady growth trend over the studied period, reaching a peak in 2022 with the publication of over 3,900 scientific resources. Among the 37,599 retrieved articles, 7,642 (20.32%) were in the fields of agriculture and life sciences, 7,119 (18.93%) were in engineering, and 6,646 (17.67%) were in medicine.
The visualization of scientific maps serves as a powerful tool for enhancing transparency, increasing scientific credibility, and improving the visibility of universities' research outputs. These tools assist academic managers and policymakers in formulating better strategies to guide research efforts and focus on scientific priorities. Such an approach can have a direct and meaningful impact on improving the quality of research and increasing scientific influence.
