Purpose: The aim of the current study is to construct the thematic network of general, clinical, and educational psychology doctoral dissertations from Iranian universities using network indices such as degree centrality, betweenness, and closeness.
Method: The statistical population of the research included 389 theses with 2588 keywords, which were analyzed in a total of 484 descriptors after randomization. Sampling was total population sampling, and the data collection tool was a checklist of keywords prepared using specialized thesauruses. Subsequently, the matrix of thematic networks was manually prepared, followed by the creation of the thematic network of theses using VOS Viewer and NetDraw software. For the analysis of micro indicators (degree centrality, betweenness, and closeness), USENET software was utilized, while VOS Viewer software was employed for the analysis of macro indicators (number of clusters and thematic network density).
Findings: The topic network of general, clinical, and educational psychology doctoral dissertations, based on the 484x484 matrix, shows that the topic category "Effectiveness/Intervention" has a degree centrality of 928, a binit centrality of 15.848, and a closeness centrality of 69, making it the most connected to other subject areas. On the other hand, the subject category "conflict" has a centrality of 137 degrees, "memory" has a centrality of 1.101, and "academic success" has the least connection and co-occurrence with other subject areas.
Conclusion: The strongest lexical associations are between the descriptors "effectiveness/ intervention" and "education" with 59 links, "gender" and "school" with 39 links, "effectiveness/ intervention" and "school" with 36 links, "education" and "school" with 31 links, and “effectiveness/ intervention” and “gender” with 30 links. In general, it is essential to conduct research that explains the relationships and designs patterns based on the obtained categories for a comprehensive evaluation, in addition to research related to effectiveness/intervention. The category of gender difference is a common cognitive finding that explores human development dimensions. Therefore, it is crucial to focus on the educational process, which is shaped within the family and school environments.
