The Impact of New Technologies on Information Seeking Behavior: Challenges, Opportunities, and the Key Role of Information Literacy in the Digital World (Review of Recent World Literature)

Objective: This review article examines the effects of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms on user notification behavior in the digital world. With technological advances, the way information is searched and used has changed dramatically, and smart search tools have allowed users to access reliable sources faster and more accurately. The study examines studies published between 2020 and 2024 and analyzes the role of new technologies in improving information screening, reducing information load and increasing accuracy in the information process. In addition, challenges such as information security, reducing critical thinking, and information anxiety that continue to affect this area are being explored. Finally, solutions are provided to improve informational behavior by strengthening information literacy and improving access to electronic resources.

Methodology: this study was conducted in a systematic review of studies and articles published in the field of information behavior. To do this study, the following steps have been taken: scientific articles have been searched from authoritative scientific databases such as Google scalar, popmad, Scopus and webaf science. Keywords such as" notification behavior"," information literacy"," digital information search"," artificial intelligence in notification", and "information challenges" have been used in English. These keywords are selected in such a way that all aspects related to the research topic are covered. The papers reviewed in this study were published between 2020 and 2024 to examine the results of up-to-date research related to recent developments in the field of information and technology advances.

Findings: the results of this study show that new technologies have played an important role in increasing the speed and accuracy of information search, and especially in scientific fields, using intelligent algorithms, have been able to improve the quality of search. AI and machine learning have helped users manage information and reduce information anxiety by creating advanced tools. However, existing challenges, especially in the field of information security and critical thinking, still need to be addressed. It is proposed that information literacy education be on the agenda as one of the main strategies to improve information behavior. In addition, improving access to electronic resources and using smart search technologies can also help reduce information burden and improve the quality of information accessed.
